{"id":553,"date":"2012-03-18T14:07:11","date_gmt":"2012-03-18T21:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sdbgdocents.org\/?page_id=553"},"modified":"2012-03-18T14:08:12","modified_gmt":"2012-03-18T21:08:12","slug":"nominating-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sdbgdocents.org\/?page_id=553","title":{"rendered":"Nominating Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.printfriendly.com\/printfriendly.js\"><\/script><a class=\"printfriendly\" style=\"color: #6d9f00; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Printer Friendly and PDF\" onclick=\"window.print(); return false;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.printfriendly.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none;\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.printfriendly.com\/pf-button.gif\" alt=\"Print Friendly and PDF\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Nominating Committee<\/h1>\n<h2>General Description:<\/h2>\n<p>The Nominating Committee recruits Docent Society Officers and Coordinators for the next calendar year.\u00a0 Per the Docent Society Operating Regulations, the Nominating Committee, consisting of three Docents, is appointed by Docent Chairperson at the September docent meeting.<br \/>\nNote 1:\u00a0\u00a0 If there is any turnover of Officers, it is recommended that the Committee be formed in June.<br \/>\nNote 2:\u00a0If only Coordinators are to be recruited, it is recommended that the Committee be formed in August.<br \/>\nNote 3:\u00a0 It is recommended that the Nominating Committee consist of at least one Docent that has served on the Docent Executive Board.\u00a0 It is also helpful if a previous Officer serves on the Committee.<\/p>\n<h2>Duties:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>At the first Nominating Committee meeting, a Committee Chairperson should be agreed upon.\u00a0 The Chairperson is responsible for coordinating all activities, listed in this job description.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinators that do not want to continue their job need to advise the Nominating Committee of their intention.\u00a0 Ask the Docent Chairperson to include a request in the monthly Docent\/Volunteer meeting email for Coordinators to advise the Nominating Committee if they want to end their job.<\/li>\n<li>A Nominating Committee member should get on the Docent\/Volunteer meeting agenda, to describe open positions and ask for volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Send potential Officers and Coordinators a Job Description.<\/li>\n<li>It is helpful to keep a spreadsheet of \u2018open\u2019 and \u2018filled\u2019 positions, so the current Docent Society Officers can easily be updated.<\/li>\n<li>New Officers are elected at the November Docent\/Volunteer meeting.\u00a0 Ask the Docent Chairperson to put this item on the Agenda, and arrange for a person to hold the election.\u00a0 Note:\u00a0 Only Active Docents may vote.\u00a0 The new Officers assume their duties in January.<\/li>\n<li>An \u2018Installation of Officers\u2019 ceremony should be performed at the December Docent\/Voluntary meeting, although this is not required by the Docent Operating Regulations.\u00a0\u00a0 Please see the following \u201cInstallation of Officer\u201d form.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Specific Skills:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Knowledge of Docent Officer and Coordinator positions.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with current docents.<\/li>\n<li>Clout!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Time Required:<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>Approximately 40 hours for Nominating Committee Chairperson.<br \/>\nApproximately 20 hours for the other two Nominating Committee members.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Recommended Term:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>QUAIL BOTANICAL GARDENS OFFICER INSTALLATION<br \/>\nThis is to certify that\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (name)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 was elected to the office of\u00a0 Docent Society _________(position)_________\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 at the November\u00a0 ?
