Gift Shop Buyers<\/h1>\n

General Description:<\/h2>\n

The Gift Shop is a retail operation that generates revenue that supports San Diego Botanic Garden\u2019s operations. It is staffed entirely by volunteers.<\/p>\n

Duties:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Select merchandise<\/li>\n
  2. Order merchandise to maintain appropriate inventory levels<\/li>\n
  3. Receive merchandise (Create Receiving Voucher)\n
      \n
    1. verify that all ordered items were received<\/li>\n
    2. reconcile Receiving Voucher to merchant\u2019s voucher<\/li>\n
    3. authorize merchant vouchers for payment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    4. Accept consignment goods<\/li>\n
    5. Price merchandise<\/li>\n
    6. Set up displays and restock as needed<\/li>\n
    7. Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving and inventory information in Point of Sale<\/li>\n
    8. Analyze spending on a periodic basis<\/li>\n
    9. Assist with the annual physical inventory<\/li>\n
    10. Assess inventory on a periodic basis. Identify items for clearance pricing or donation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Specific Skills:<\/h2>\n
        \n
      1. Familiarity with basic computer software applications<\/li>\n
      2. Understanding of Point of Sale reports, inventory, purchasing and receiving functions.<\/li>\n
      3. Retail, or similar, background is helpful<\/li>\n
      4. Ability to work constructively with other volunteers and staff members<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Time Required:<\/h2>\n

        10-20 hours per week, additional time if the buyer also staffs the shop<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

        Two years, more if desired.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
