History Education Specialist

General Description:

Responsible for educating volunteers, staff and visitors about the history of SDBG, the story of its founders, and people and events of key importance in that story.

Duties:

  1. Become familiar with the general history of the Garden and surroundings.
  2. Participate in meetings of the overall History Team.
  3. Make presentations at the Docent/Volunteer meetings, entitled “Garden History 101.” Garden Historian can provide the script and materials, or as interested, so can the Education Specialist.
  4. Provide history tours in the Museum, or in other venues, as interested and needed.

  2. Public speaking skills
  3. Research skills
  4. Interest in history
  5. Ability to positively interact and constructively work with diverse volunteers, staff members and visitors

Time Required:

Eight hours/month
More when there are special deadlines or events

Recommended Term:

Two years, more if desired.
