Docent Hours Recorder

General description:

The Docent Hours Recorder updates, maintains and communicates docent hours for the purposes of San Diego Botanic Garden reporting and docent milestone
incentive awards.

Duties:

    1. Obtain reported docent hours from available sources.
    2. Record the hours in the designated recording document.
    3. Identify achievement of docent milestones.
    4. Prepare/obtain appropriate awards for milestones achieved.
    5. Prepare monthly ‘Docent and Volunteer Milestone and Upcoming Events’ sheet and e-mail a copy to the Docent Chair and Volunteer Hours Recorder.
    6. Add newly qualified docents to hours recording document as notified by Docent Training Coordinator.
    7. Encourage docents to submit hours regularly – email reminders
    8. Attend monthly General Meeting
    9. At the end of term, prepare and email position materials to the newly designated Docent Hours Recorder.

Specific Skills:-

  1. Solid working knowledge of standard computer applications including email, spreadsheets and word processing
  2. Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
  3. Detail-oriented
  4. Diplomacy and tact
  5. Should have attended DIT class and become a Docent
  6. Helps to know who docents are

 

Time required:

10 to 15 hours a month

Recommended Term:

2 years minimum
