DOCENT CHAIR

The primary job of the Docent Chair is to perform as a conduit of information between (both to and from) Staff and Docents/Volunteers.

The Docent Chairperson is responsible for overseeing operations of the SDBG Docent Society.

Accomplishing this task requires the Docent Chairperson to be an organized individual, with the ability to quickly respond to questions/issues via email and the ability to write reports, compose agendas, chair meetings and communicate with individuals at all levels in the SDBG organization. The Docent Chairperson should be familiar with the Operating Regulations of the San Diego Botanic Docent Society and the SDBG By-laws.

The duties performed on a regular basis are, but not limited to:-

Docent Meeting

(9:30 am, 1st Wednesday of Month)

1.  One week prior to meeting, prepare and send an email to docents reminding them of upcoming meeting.

2.  Prepare Docent Meeting agenda.

DEB Meetings

(10 am, Third Wednesday of Month) 1. Week before meeting, send out a DEB meeting      reminder. send Agenda Monday before meeting.

Review DEB and Docent Minutes 1.  Secretary will forward minutes draft for review.  Send before distribution to IT Coordinator any changes to Secretary who will then send them to IT

Coordinator for final review and distribution, either to:-
SDBG website or DEB list.

Identify Nominating Committee – Identify 3 people who will be responsible for nominating the following year’s officers and coordinators.

Committee shall be appointed by the Chair by the end of June and will present a slate of officers at the October General Meeting.

Time required

Approx 10+ hours per month

Term – 2 years
