Mapping Associate

General Description:

Under the direction and training of the Curator of Plant Collections, the Mapping Associate surveys the Garden and enters new plant information into the database and maps.

Duties:

  1. Meet with Team members on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  2. Follow the direction of the Curator of Collections.
  3. Update database by identifying and mapping new plants.

Specific Skills:

  1. Basic understanding of plant identification
  2. Computer literate
  3. Maps and ARC GIS familiarity
  4. Walk and stand for extended periods
  5. Ability to bend repeatedly
  6. Effective and open communication skills
  7. Ability to work independently yet collaborate with the Horticulture Team
  8. Previous experience as a Master Gardener is helpful, but not required

Time Required:

10 – 20 hours / month
